Made in England and Spain, just like in the USA, current Land Rovers are a luxury imported brand for wealthy urbanites. Before this they were still imported by the wealthy, but as ranch vehicles for their estancias wild pampa outback. Imports started in 1956 with most of the varieties of LR's increasing over the years. There are Series available, but most are early Defenders and Santanas. What interests you? JUST ASK US!
Technically Campo isn't Argentine made...... at least not 100%. Four identical 107's were imported into Argentina by the Federal Police in 1956. After a long service there, his history get's a little fuzzy. But he was eventually purchased by a Mendoza Andean mountain expedition company trekking in the high and dry Andes. Land Rover England didn't import any more Series 1, 2 or 3 so consequently there was no dealership support for parts and labor. Import taxes of 100% on auto imports kept the owners from keeping Campo stock, so as in many 3rd world countries the locals improvised. In this case, they replaced the gas engine with an Argentine made 4 cylinder Perkins 4203 diesel, and the axels to front and rear Dana 44;s with a Jeep Gladiator 4 speed hi/lo gear box. Front lockers are Warn manual. Campo is a little slow and noisy, but on level ground you start out in 3rd gear. Serious torque. Campo is incredibly strong and competent off-roading and s ton of fun in the backcountry!. Dependable. Strong. Incomparable look. Not for the LR purist. Available July 2023 in Las Vegas.
